Exemptions

Exemptions are not given for Core Subjects at the Diploma Professional Stage. These are obtained only through formal examinations set by CIPS. However you may be granted some exemptions on a subject for subject basis if you have already completed studies for other qualifications where subjects had a similar content and standard as the CIPS syllabuses. As a guide, qualifications which are equivalent to, or higher than, the standard of an HNC/HND are sometimes acceptable.

Occasionally, applicants with substantial relevant work experience may be awarded exemptions from some Diploma Foundation Stage subjects but, as with qualifications, evidence is needed to support such a claim. Normally an applicant will be expected to have 5 to 7 years practical experience and responsibility in the relevant subjects.

If you intend to ask for exemptions, you will need to review the syllabus carefully and clearly state the subject (s) which you believe are appropriate to your qualifications (or relevant experience) and provide detailed supporting documentation. It will take a little time to evaluate your request and a fee of £15.00 will be charged for each subject which is subsequently granted exemption.
